I like the layers of tree, mist, mountain and sky - a little pattern there. Only thing better would to be on top, looking down upon everything! :-P

Seeing a little noise/grain in the sky and lower parts of the fog. Did you choose B&W because of the dark foreground? I'd be interested in seeing the color version too.

Ive choosen b&w because ive shot it with a b&w preset on the fuji x100s and liked the jpeg it produced straight away. I then just tweaked it in LR to give it more crisp.

In addition it reminded me of some work from ansel adams whiches work i adore.

This is from the same series in color, but different comp:

It's a lovely shot. I think you have some room in the first version for crop adjustments. I am not particularly fond of detail free static spaces unless there is some other relation that adds value. The sky here can be stated nicely in less space. The foreground less so.

I found the sky adds a lot to the image as ive seen on the second version that the little space for the sky and for the trees make the shot so busy dont you think?

Maybe ive got your explanation wrong?

Chop off a bunch of that sky. If it's featureless blue sky, it's just dead space. You want the focus on the mountain. Probably a little bit of the bottom/foreground could go too, just a bit where the trees turn into just dark shadows.

Can't seem to save the photo by itself, I wonder if you need to change your settings.

I see what patrick j means about the sky, but I personally wouldn't crop it any more than equal to the forest, which it is probably pretty close to already. The more I look at it the more I think your crop is good - seems to be about 1/3 forest/fog, 1/3 fog/mountain and 1/3 sky. I like the balance.

Too bad you didn't get a color version of the original composure.

I really dig it, I would love to shoot those mountains. I like the feel of the black and white.

Yeah, i like the b&w more too.

The good thing here in switzerland is, when you live in the city you drive an hour and are completely in the wild :D

Hrrmm... that's a tough one, but I think I prefer the color version, at least with their current edits.

Thank you for posting it!
