Panasonic GX7

The Gx7 is now dc'ed by Panasonic, their moving on/loss can be your gain.
This shot with the often slammed 100-300g. I've also got the Oly 40-150 2.8 and at this point
I would only grab the Oly if I know the light is going to be poor. For working with light the 100-300
impresses me over and over again. I can see why many m4/3s users want Panasonic to upgrade it
with pro components-

I just came back from a short road trip South of Utah. We passed a few days between the Canyonlands, the Arches and the Monument Valley.

The GX7 performed beautifully and it was a true pleasure to use in the field.

Awesome images mate! I'm loving my GX7 as well, it's an amazing little camera, except as pointed out, that the evf doesn't have a diopter.

One thought/wish on the Gx7 now having used it a bit.
I wish Panasonic had given it (or almost any of their cameras) the ability to USB charge.
I just added the GM5 and the only thing the RX100iii has over it (my opinion of course) is
USB charging.

One of my doctors asked me what would make a good travel camera for a trip to Russia. I showed him my GX7 (silver) and he was sold. When he got back he said there was a problem with it...

It makes a great "incognito" camera when you don't want to draw attention to yourself.

Bruce, if your doctor friends wants another mine is in the for sell forum; I'm jonesying to get the GX8 and my She-Ruler says one must go before another can come into the house!

He just retired from practice and is trying to watch expenditures (if you can imagine a Dr. watching money!), travels a lot though. I put mine up for sale a few weeks ago but the way prices are falling on even lightly used good gear, changed my mind and it's become my "grab 'n go" camera. It's small bag fits down in the center console of my Honda CRV so it's "invisible" until needed.

No visible bag to tempt "smash 'n grab" types.

Just got my GX7 from adorama's used department for $450. Paired it with a 20 f1.7. So far I'm loving it! Intended to keep my 7D for longer lenses, and the gx7 for travel/walking around camera. With wife and kid walking around cities, going to the beach/camping etc.

I'm new to 4/3. What are lens recommendations for such use? I like the 20 mm, but thinking a zoom might be nice for convenience. For example recently was in Munich and the 7D with 17-50 2.8 felt cumbersome. Would the oly kit lens (14-42mm f3.5-5.6 I think) be a good choice? I'm wondering how much I'd miss f2.8.. The pancake lenses are attractive to keep the kit small. I feel putting a 2.8 there defeats the purpose of getting this camera..
