I'm curious about the motivation behind these shots. Did the venue or ballet company hire you to take photos? Was the motivation to document the event or to get some marketing shots?

Benon, while that one might not make a "final cut", it was a matter of choices. Between low light, noise reduction, cropping, et al, it is what it is.

xanthamn, the motivation was simple. I'd been having difficulty connecting with models. My primary interest is fashion photography. DC is not a fashion center. Despite that, I am driven to photograph models or people who could work as models. I turned to some connections in dance, and connected with a local dance company. I photographed their performance (and last rehearsals) of The Nutcracker. While not fashion per se, it keeps me shooting and I enjoy the beauty of it! Part of this is learning, and part of it is simply making connections. They've liked the work so far, so I'm hoping to stay connected with them. I'd like to do some actual studio work with them, and hope to do some of that in the spring. This isn't yet commercial, but I want to make it so.
