For those with the E-M1 how do you find the tracking for sports and other moving subjects?

I have a E-M10 and have been able to get some good shots of racing at the Velodrome but it struggles a little when it comes to some wildlife stuff......mostly BIF. As long as the subject is close or large enough as well as moving predicable I don't have an issue, but was wondering how the E-M1 would compare.

I would have to say that would depend on the lens you are using. All the telephoto zooms which I use on my E-M1 are 4/3 through an MMF-3 adaptor. Using these lenses, C-AF struggles a bit. I have found that, for fast moving objects such as BIF or model aeroplanes, I get the best results using S-AF and focusing off the centre point. Then I just concentrate on keeping the subject in the frame and hit (and hold) the button.

It is very much "hit and miss", but I am now starting to get more "hits" than "misses". ;-)a

Well, I've noticed that the EM-1 can provide excellent results depending on how you use it. When I did my first batch of trials I was using the C-AF +TR and a low burst rate for moving objects. I tried cars, bikes, buses, kids, the dog, etc. This was all through the viewfinder. Well... I was really unimpressed and for a time it sent me running back to my DSLR for moving objects. Then one day I had a thought and I tried viewing the moving subject using the LCD. With the LCD touch focus/shoot active and AF configured to S-AF in single shot mode I was simply able to poke the LCD at any given moment to take a shot of the object in motion. In essence, my eyes and finger became the new tracking point for the object. The AF in S-AF mode is more than fast enough for the task and my keeper rates for moving objects now rivals that of my 5D3. It takes a little getting used to but I took about 100 shots of the dog running around in the yard yesterday using this method. 1 OOF shot in the batch. Not bad at all.
