People photography isn't my usual thing. As someone here once said, "If a person wanders into the shot, I politely wait for them to leave..." However, I got an idea of a nice gift for my sister being a few photos of her daughter. Niece Lauren only does texts, so I suggested meeting up this Sunday to see what we could shoot. I rented the Canon 200/2 and we set out for Discovery Park in 25 degree weather.

I practiced a bit and noticed that the AF using metabones 2 on my A7R wasn't that reliable. So for these shots I went with MF, no tripod and put my faith in IS. We were in the park at 330pm, but the light didn't get good until about an hour later.

Wow, combining the beautiful girl and wonderful light has culminated in a lovely set.
Favourites are first and last, but they're all keepers for me.

Tons of enthusiasm, loads of kit, limited skill...

I hear you....its a hard one for me to justify as well. I tend to cringe when people corral a lens into a single genre but this is kind of a portrait lens only. Now add a teleconverter and then you can do nice distance shots

Nice set and I love the rendering of the 200. I would do some skin clean up as it will go a long way to making these portraits very special.

Very nice photos. #1 and #4 work for me. I like the lighting on these I would try to work on the flying hair. That is one of my biggest problems. I tend not to notice until I start working on them on the computer.
