Has anyone seen or used the new Lowepro Protactic bags? Thinking of getting the 450AW early next year when they start selling them in Europe and looking for feedback.

I looked them over at the PhotoPlus expo in NY about a month ago. Very well constructed, the top hatch is a hard molded plastic covered in fabric. The strapping on the back and sides can be used to attach accessories as desired, the idea coming from military style packs. Looks and felt like a very rugged bad. LowePro rep told me they had a manufacturing issue so the bags were in short supply. I am considering one as well, just can't decide which size.

I was just looking at the 350 2 days ago and I may be getting one very soon. It was definitely smaller than I expected which is a good thing for me since I hate large backpacks.

Saw it today. Feels very, very rugged, the MOLLE-style attachment points and seams are great. I didn't give it a very close look on the inside, though, because the shape is rigid and that wasn't what I was looking for in a bag.

Interesting...

Two concerns:

1: Are the straps standard MOLLE sizing?

2: The external molle-style webbing appears to be z-stitched, not bar-tack stitched... That could seriously effect durability of those attachment points. Properly bar-tacked webbing will support your full body weight from a single loop. (Doesn't mean it's a good idea, but it can do it.)

I read somewhere that they are MOLLE standard but not having seen one I really don't know. Same goes for the stitching, and you make a good point as I could be hanging a reasonably heavy tripod/head combo on it.

At this point I think I'll be waiting until I can get my paws on one physically before I jump.
