So, one of my first thoughts about the new design was that it was quite tedious to navigate, having to scroll through a massive list of topics and all, but this problem is amplified to the max when browsing the forum on my iPhone 6, which takes pretty much an eternity to get to the sub-forums near the bottom of the list. If this design is to stick, then POTN really needs a mobile variant that cuts everything down to the essentials, and this is fairly important as I visit POTN from my mobile devices nearly as often as when I'm on the computer.

This is what POTN currently looks like:

IMAGE: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/41183616/2014-12-04%2011.07.53.png

Whereas the format should be more like:
IMAGE: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/41183616/2014-12-04%2011.07.53%20copy.png

Wow! Not touching on the unnecessarily large and difficult to read forum titles, I cut the amount of space required to less than half just by getting rid of pointless descriptors for each of the subs. When sub forums have fairly obvious and self-descriptive titles like buy & sell, computer discussion or Canon cameras, you don't even need to tell people whats in em, how about that?

Also, in editing this post I want to talk about the editor:
IMAGE: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/41183616/edit.png

Edit: also, what's wrong with my avatar, does AMASS not support PNG transparency?

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

I would like forum index to have an option (default!) to just show simple headings (no curly font), forum title, (no description), time since last post.

How is it a problem? Comments like these belong on 4chan or Reddit, not a photography forum. It worked just fine the way it was, I could quickly and easily check up on what's going on at the forum in the sections I was interested in while away from the computer.

Here is a list of location problems with the current layout:
1. Good that the computer section now gets a bit more exposure being it's own sub, but I can no longer easily get to it from the Post section, as it is located in a completely different group altogether.
2. Photo sharing is at the top of the list, yet most people come here for the gear, which is now strewn about all over the place - general gear is flanked by sharing and discussion, while Canon cameras, the meat of the forum, is all the way in section 6, more than half-way down the forum list.
3. Photo sharing and Photography talk take up too much space, and are essentially a copy/paste of each other, but with a slightly different focus in terms of content. Roll them into one by giving each Share a Talk sub-section, or visa-verse. Alternatively, allow people to hide the forums they don't wish to see into nested tabs, because in reality people who are interested in (for example) nature and landscapes probably won't visit many other sub-sections like Macro, Astro or Food photography, so why burden them with useless visual information?
4. Whoever really wants to read gear reviews will go to the bottom to read them.
5. Leica, Sony, Nikon and other digital cameras should all just be one big section, you can easily find your model anyway since there are 3 subs for each.
6. Where is the Pentax section then?
7. News and rumors needs to be higher up, it's certainly more interesting than sample photos or the market
8. Sample photos is just kind of on it's own there, it should be part of a larger section.

Did you try the short view vs the long view? That gets you a bit closer to what you are asking for.

Also to KolorPicker, did you filter out forums you don't like, and did you sort the forum sections so that the most used are at the top?

I tried out short view and it doesn't look good, the fancy cursive board titles still take up too much space, while too much information is taken away from the sub forums.

If there is a way to do this, I haven't found it yet, in which it doesn't seem intuitive. New members might think the layout can't be changed.

It says sorting doesn't work for mobile devices, which defeats the point of this thread, which is about the mobile version of the site.

Sort on a non-mobile device then, and then you can glean the benefits of that sorting on your mobile device.

But you can hide items on mobile. I just tired it on an iphone 6 plus and it works. Just click on the forum you dont want to see where it mentions [Visible] and it deactivates it for you. This way you can make the view as you want.

I think it's the sorting that doesn't yet work, because you cannot hold down and drag something without some coding, I believe. I sorted everything on my laptop, and now enjoy the sort order on my Samsung phone and tablet.

Well, it's better now, but having to toss 50 forums and rearranging everything says something about the inefficiency of this design. I didn't have to hide anything before, why should I now?

Because this site is now brand agnostic, and many other new forums were added like Food, etc. Being able to arrange the forums around is actually a very nice user touch, and doesn't show any deficiency whatsoever. I am sure I don't like looking at the same forums you do, nor in the same order, nor you to mine.

The filtering and reordering is something many want, and it would be a huge shame if a few argued against it and it was removed.

QUOTED IMAGE

I have considered earlier to remove the descriptions on lower resolutions, as the list is pretty high. I'm pretty sure I'll do that in next version, it's an easy fix.

Also, in editing this post I want to talk about the editor:
QUOTED IMAGE

Editor will get more mobile attention is due time.

Edit: also, what's wrong with my avatar, does AMASS not support PNG transparency?

Avatars are converted to jpeg, transparency is converted to background color.
