Very nice Paul!! Chalk another one up for the Sigma/D750 combo. Did you ever desire the D7200 for the extra pixel density?

Thanks Russ. I never wanted the D7200 because I always thought that it didnt really compete with Canon's 7d2. However the D500 is what the doctor ordered for sports/wildlife. :)

Sold my 7D2 and 100-400ii and bought a D750 & 200-500mm with the proceeds......plus change!

Couldn't be happier with the results either, gives me the jump in final image quality that I was expecting (hoping for) when I upgraded from the Mk1 versions of the Canon gear but never got.

Wow!!!!!
Amazing.
I had the Canon 100-400 II too, but now with the D750 with the Sigma 150-600 S I am very happy as well.

I'd like to ask you whether anyone uses a tripod with the D750 and a heavy lens like the Sigma 150-600 S, roughly 4 kg.

For the time being,i would have looked at the Manfrotto MT190XPRO3 or the MT055XPRO3 and I'm still unsure about the head.
A 3-way or a video-head, which one would be better?
Thanks

Nice shot! Did you have to crop in much on this? Curious as to how close you were to subject :)

I use a tripod sometimes. When I do, I use a ball head most of the time. When I go out specifically for eagles/birds in flight I use a gimbal head.

It is quite a crop. About 3000 on the long edge.

Taken from about a 15m distance I would think.

I don't have a big tripod but do use a monopod often with my 120-300 (though I do handhold it a lot too). If I was to get a tripod (in the wish list stage atm) it'd be one of those two, probably an 055 variant, with a gimbal head.
