Thank you very much! I wish I could find scores on the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 version as well. It doesn't look like DXOmark has tested that yet.

After some additional research, it looks like there may be some new contenders for some of these top lens spots; this article was written in 2015!

the camera was originally made in 2014 so I guess many of the tests were done in '14 and '15.

Well if you are still interested, I have the old 35-70mm 2.8 (d) and I think my model was made in 1992. The optics are sharp and the lens is metal and a bit heavy for its small size. However, the lens is not coated and any shots into the sun have bad flare and white out. You have to be careful buying this lens as some models (most are the age of mine) have haze/fungus problems. Autofocus is accurate and some say a little slow but mine does a good job. This lens will autofocus with model Nikons that have autofocus built into the body ie d750, d500, d600's, d800's, d7000's and the more professional models but not the D5000's, D3000's series.
It's been awhile since I set it up but you have to turn the aperture ring to f22 before mounting in order for the fstop to work. Once thats done you don't have to reset it again unless you accidentally move the ring while the lens is off the camera.
It maybe a good buy if you can get a clean one for not much money, the model "D" seems to be the best. I use mine and as you can see I have a few newer lenses. It is a small lens compared to the 24-70mm 2.8 models today. There is no image stabilization but in it's day it was one of "the" lenses tto have.

I'm planning on getting a D750 for real estate photography. Any recommendations on 16-35 or 17-35 lenses for this nikon body?

I use the Rokinon 14mm for my real estate shooting. But it is wide and does distort.

The 14-24 is another option to consider. Nikon also recently released a 19mm PCE

For interiors:

I use my D750 with a Tamron 15-30 VC. It works. Examples on my site.

It's almost always set at 24mm.

I'll probably go with a 24mm TS-E in the future, to fix the converging verticals while pointing down or up. Will save me some time in PP and be a bit better quality image wise.

I haven't shot the other wides, and I don't do a lot of real estate, but I've shot enough with the 16-35 F4 on my D750 to know, 1) it's wide enough to get the job done, 2) it's sharp enough for me and renders skies nicely, and 3) there's a lot of distortion at the wide end. You really have to be careful how you tilt (or don't tilt) your camera. Great thing though, if you find one at your local camera shop, you can test it on exactly what you shoot, the interior of a room. When shooting the outside of a building, I've seen people point and shoot then gripe about the distortion. I tell them to point, but then tilt up and down before they shoot. Often those angled lines straighten up for them.

Colorful picture

I have a small, but pesky problem. 2 button formatting does not work. When I press and hold for a long time the two buttons together the "For" blinks and I can even select the card slot, but any attempt to press both buttons simultaneously again fails and formatting is cancelled. Is this a fault of my camera or am I just too clumsy?
