With the old software it was really useful to run one's mouse over a thread title to see part of the opening sentence and decide whether it was worth opening, but I can't make this work on AMASS - am I missing some setting?

For example, when someone starts a thread with an uninformative title such as HELP, I want to see immediately whether it's something I might help with or whether it's just a another post from someone wanting advice about a camera "for the wife".

Wasn't sure if that was a feature of the old forum or if I was confusing it with another forum I frequent. I also appreciate that feature and wouldn't mind if it showed back up around here if easy to add.

Yes, I was wanting to ask for this very useful, and sorely missed, feature as well.

Isn't it amazing how we all use forums differently! I hate that feature on every forum I frequent.......... always have to make sure my mouse doesn't hover near the titles, because I hate the pop-up text blocking the thread titles and other areas I'm trying to read!

Another vote for bringing this back. It definitely helps when the titles are very general and nondescriptive.

Totally. In my case, now that people are pointing out things missing or asking how to recreate things on the new forum, I'm learning how few of the forum features I even realized existed.

yes, that's the only thing I'm really missing. Too many titles are non-descriptive and it was really useful. I often use the New Posts link and just scan titles. For those that don't like it, maybe it can be made so it can be toggled on and off for the entire site.

I actually miss it on other forums, impatiently jiggling my mouse over titles until I realize it's a different site :-P

I also hated that misfeature. Not only did you need to keep the mouse away, it gave implicit permission for people to use vague thread titles.
