I'm hooked on "All New". What is this "Forum Index", that you speak of? Short view? Long view? I'm lost. /s

I think I'll also drop "Photography Talk" forums to lower position, as it is less popular than the others.

I'd move it up above Gear Talk which might result in less "talk" in the photo areas & save us some work.

In the entire scheme of my life, the changes to this forum are miniscule. I look forward to a bit of relearning. Best of luck with the transition.:-D

The main page. The front page. The page that lists all the forums. Such pages are sometimes called "index" or "directory."

Short view and long view: the two buttons here control how much of the list you see.

Sarcasm is lost, on this one.

I've been a graphic designer for most of my life (60 now) and the one thing I've learned is that you can't please all of the people all of the time.

I cannot even imagine the amount of work that's been done creating this site... had I a commercial job like this, I would have taken a looong vacation on completion. Instead, Pekka and team are here answering complaints about font size and color. It's not yellow text on a black background for pete's sake!

I am a lifelong learner - keeps the brain sharp and change is not always comfortable, but good for the soul. I have much bigger things to complain about, that directly affect my life - a great free forum where I can learn, view world-class photography (and I do mean world-class - some of the posters here are simply amazing) and be inspired unhindered by trolls and ads is not one of them!

Building a site like this, and a trustworthy reputation to boot, over many years takes a special kind of dedication few of us could maintain. Rebuilding from scratch is not something I would even have considered!

My sincerest kudos to POTN and thanks for an education I have not found on any other photography site - this has helped me land 2 full-time jobs I would not have gotten without the knowledge gleaned from this site.

POTN Rocks! Changes and all!

And there are a few people who you can never please.

Pekka one thing in relation to your previous post about short view, I think one really good thing about the previous forum was it showed (IIRC) e.g. Gear Talk "=10 million threads and 10 billion posts" and made everything look really popular and people would be like "wah so much traffic I wanna post up my stuff and get attentionz". Maybe I'm overthinking it, but that impression of high traffic is a self fulfilling prophecy in itself.
hehehe

There is this
"377,560 MEMBERS, 17,125,911 POSTS, 1,368,727 THREADS, 1,667,055,187 THREAD VIEWS."

Maybe it needs to be in bigger font? :)

Thanks Pekka. I'm still using long view so I will see no change. This is great as I like JennaSue.:-)

I have switched to Full View too now but to make that manageable I have hidden 51 forums so I only have a kind of skeleton POTN now. :-)
