Any suggestions for a mini tripod to sit on a table that will be strong enough for a 1DX with 24-70 2.8?

Tried my SLR Zoom gorillapod but it's nowhere near strong enough....

Thanks

I've tried this one (external link) but I suspect most of these are made for point and shoot cameras or Rebels. On the other hand, this is as stable as they get. I stick in my bag next to my beanbag. Read the reviews on the Amazon site to get an idea of what owners use it for.

Just my 2p!
I use a Gitxo 3320BS for this sort of thing. It's not light and not cheap but it is VERY rigid and will support any lens you can get hold of. Although it's weight rating is 18 Kilos, I did make a plywood top with a cushion and used as a hide stool for a while - I am 105 kilos!
Expensive - yes, heavy - yes, for it's size, holds anything - with ease!

Manfrotto do their 709b
The ballhead will need replacing, as it is a bit poor, but the legs will happily hold a 1D (i used one for a remote camera, holding a 1d and 70-200 once)

Other options include the Leica tabletop tripod (needs ballhead) and the RRS tabletop tripod.

I have a sirui T025X on the way, its a compact travel tripod, but with the centre column removed, its tabletop sized.

That's what I use (added a Arca-Swiss clamp to it). The ball head that comes with it will hold a 60d with 18-35 f1.8 attached.......a 1Dx and 24-70 might be pushing it.

There's the Kirk Low Pod. Not actually a tripod, but very useful for table top photography.

Sorry I wasn't specific... Try the Focus.

Thanks. Have you used one yourself? It says it's strong enough for a DSLR and zoom lens but I wonder....

The review I read says the 709b won't support a DSLR but as you've said that seems to be due to the ballhead. Good to know that the legs are strong enough though.

The RRS and sirui are a bit too expensive for my needs....

Yeah, says load limit is 1.1 kg but thanks anyway...

That's pretty cool but expensive - I can see where the idea for the home made one comes from!

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Got plenty of options to consider....

I had a quick search and I think it may have been discontinued, no problem just get a second hand one for less! Gitzo support tripods for a LONG time!
