A couple of our small birds
a junior and very tired Superb Fairy Wren resting on the fence
it was quite comical watching as it would fall asleep then wake then return to slumber
but it didn't fall off throughout the ordeal

Brown Thornbill - Acanthiza pusilla
Beautiful small birds that chase after insects and seem to follow along with the Superb Fairy Wrens
They don't sit still for long

Yes, I look at the snow scenes on this forum and glad we're not having same.
Easy to forget we're on same planet at same time of year. :-)

As usual, great shots. I always look forward to your images, as I love your work!

Regarding winter: we may still be in for a surprise here in NW-Europe, as yesterday and the day before yesterday we saw lots of geese in very large groups migrating southward.
They arrived here in October/November, but now suddenly have decided to pack up and go further south, it seems.

Kind regards, Wim

Totally agree ,even parts of the u.k have suffered badly already ,storms and snow etc .. but I’m on the north wales coast a few hundred metres from the sea and so far this year has been really mild .with only one morning with a frost all winter .. winds however are a different matter

I live in the for many British people notorious, but IMO absolutely lovely town of Maastricht, in the Netherlands, and we have had an extremely mild winter as well so far. Just one night at -4 C, and 2 nights with minor frost, like -1 C, and that's it. We have had proper spring temperatures as well, to the degree that our tortoise decided to put her head above water for a couple of days too. Normally you only see her sometime in April or May ....

We'll see what happens next month, I guess, and in March. We have had blizzard-like snow storms in February and March before, even after a mild January ....

Kind regards, Wim

Super shots Richard

thanks Jeff, much appreciated

The wrens are used to me and I've found a few spots they frequent and can stand and watch them from closeup and they come and go and sit about when they are in the mood ie.
