Over to Napier today. View of the port from Perfume Point side. There's a red algal bloom in the water, and it's a horrible brownish colour, but don't think it really shows in the photos.

There used to be a little play area on the beach, but well meaning Health and Safety people had the toys removed. I'd heard that people had ignored the edict and were still using it. :-)

After seeing all the logs decided to go to the Bluff Hill lookout to snap the working port.

Logs everywhere. The port is very at the moment with ships waiting at sea.

Perfume Point where I was earlier is about mid height, you can just see the light (not showing as a light though) at the left of the tree. That's the entrance area to the leisure and fishing boats I showed earlier.

The fence has been moved back quite a bit and it's more difficult to get angles etc now, but a lot safer. Previous fence was quite wonky and you wouldn't dare lean on it for fear of falling, as there;s a steep bluff right there. There has been a couple of people jump unfortunately.

Interesting series Rose. Good to see thanks.
And you're out and about :-)

Perfume Point! Is that its real name or a local one due to the odours of nearby activities?
I see you export logs as we do!
Then we import sawn timber etc! Makes great sense!
Locals here complain of the smell from wood chip piles but wasn't sure if your photos show any?

Yes lovely autumn day today after weeks of dreary easterly driven grey rain.

Perfume Point .... good guess. It was a sewer outlet I believe :-)

The logs!! Really gets my goat what we are doing in this country with logs. There's been huge prblems up around the East Coast with flooding bring down the slash, polluting the rivers, messing up the land and beaches.

Yes, then we import timber!

There's also been comments about China getting carbon credits for planting pines here, which are then exported .... don't know the details, but I hate that we aren't planting for the future.

Mm. Seems like we're on the same page Rose and our governments or advisers have similar strange ways
Our autumn weather has been beautiful. Autumns of old, best time of year here in Tasmania

Doesn't make sense does it?!

Had a couple of really nice autumn days but blustery wind today, with a bit of a nip to it.

Walk with the dog. I thought the other day I ought to go looking for fungi as we have had so much rain and then warmth. Didn't think of here under the willows, and these past their best.
