Still some surface flooding at Pakowhai. Never known it to linger like this before, well over a week. Usually most of it is gone within two days, with just a lot of mud and slush left.

Rose this has me curious
The bridge looks to be in the wrong place.
Water is on the approaches and the bridge is on dry land
I like the colours in the water.
All a beautiful blend or meld of greens

When I first walked here in 2005/6 there were two streams ..... the first where the surface water is at the bridge approach. Then there was dry land a metre or so wide, and the second bridge. The middle bit of land was mostly dry, but did sometimes flood, but it drained quickly.

Over time what was the first stream became a bit of a back water, but it floods with heavy rain.

I have believed increasingly, with the last few floods that the bridge needs to be extended, as this particular bridge gets blocked off regularly now. There is still plenty of walking tracks, but you get used to walking certain routes, and enjoying them :-)

I think I mentioned I was participating in a photo challenge on another forum where you choose a camera and lens and post a single shot each day. You can, of course, take other shots with the gear, or other gear. Anyway I chose the Xiaomiyi 42.5 f/1.8. I've enjoyed it more than I thought. Didn't want to take the gear outside today as we are in a red weather alert in anticipation of Cyclone Gabrielle, but it hasn't reached us yet, however causing havoc up north already.

So a little still life using a bedside lamp, and a cheap K Mart ring light. Need to diffuse the light next time I think.

I am also taking part in that challenge. This is a photo which I took, but didn't post, as it is not quite in the spirit of the challenge. One camera and one lens, but three overlapping photos stitched together.

From left to right: Victoria Bridge, Brisbane CBD behind the Riverside Expressway, Neville Bonner Bridge and South Bank, with the Brisbane River in the foreground.

The Neville Bonner Bridge is still under construction. See here: https://queenswharfbrisbane.com.au …re/neville-bonner-bridge/ (external link)

A three photo panoramic stitch using Capture One Pro 23.

While I am one of the very lucky people unscathed by Cyclone Gabrielle, it has damaged my heir loom tomatoes. I consider myself extremely lucky though, as just a few km away people have had ti be evacuated from their homes.

It's been a bad season for tomatoes, and as these were just beginning to ripen, all the rain not kind to them.

However I consider myself extremely lucky, as I am safe in my own home, and apart from a few small branches torn off in the wind, my garden is intact. Just a few kms down the road people have been evacuated from their homes .... and I believe there are many who won't be able to go back, in some areas.
