It's been a bad season for tomatoes, and as these were just beginning to ripen, all the rain not kind to them.

However I consider myself extremely lucky, as I am safe in my own home, and apart from a few small branches torn off in the wind, my garden is intact. Just a few kms down the road people have been evacuated from their homes .... and I believe there are many who won't be able to go back, in some areas.

Tomatoes are way behind here and at my daughters place on the coast and in Adelaide at another daughter's
Weird you're experiencing it in NZ. Must be a weather thing!

Definitely a weather thing! Simply can't remember a summer like it ..... and the weather events - firstly for Auckland and Coromandel, and Gabriele .... the devastation is unimagibale

And Hawkes Bay - cell coverage was out, so I didn't know what it was like all around me!

Yes I was outside hacking the banksia rose away so I could get my car out, so didn't feel it thankfully! I'm a bit shocked at what has happened and I was safe throughout it all.

Went to Frimley Park today - had intended to go to Pakowhai (the dog park), but the road is still closed. That area was badly hit during Gabrielle, as the Tutaekuri burst it's banks.

The rose garden at Frimley Park seems remarkably unscathed!

Mm. I guess a common sight and worse.
Your new PM has hit the road running, bit like your previous.
That rose is beautiful

Absolute devastation in some areas .... we're being asked to restrict travel to essential only, but I haven't got the heart to go taking photos of the worst areas anyway. Finally heard that one of my friends is safe today. She was evacuated from her home, but there has been no power or cell cover where she is. Still waiting to hear from another friend who lives in Taradale, which was also very hard hit.

On the way to Clive today to take the dog for a walk, when I noticed vehicles at Pakowhai Park aka The Dog Park. I thought it was closed.

Rose that bridge did a good job to hang on with all that debris piled up behind it and on its railings.
Whats the fruit? I gather those are fruit boxes, apples?
Murky looking brew
Signs of a typical bad flood. Not at all good

That does look really bad ,presume the boxes have been washed downstream from farm/ warehouse etc .. hopefully the wildlife will be able to take advantage of it

It was such a peaceful scene that I just couldn't resist taking a photo.
