Does Canon make a AA battery powered compact anymore? If not, does anybody else make a good AA battery compact?

Take a look at the A1400 (external link). Not the fullest-featured camera around but perfectly adequate for general photography. I have the predecessor A1300.

Thanks Jon. That would be perfect except for the lack of IS. I should have mentioned that this would be for my folks, and IS is a must.

I think Amazon still has some SX160 IS cameras in stock. They use AA batteries.

That used to be one of my criteria as well, but had to abandon the concept for lack of options. Steve's used to list battery type in their main screen, but no longer. They still provide a good insight into camera performance:

The "A" series used to be "AA" powered, but no longer.
