I know we have talked about this a lot lately, but how normal is this? There are currently over 500 members online and the RTAT shows only 30 activities within 45 minutes. That seems a bit slow to me, even with all of the new commotion going on throughout the forum. Post thoughts here.

It does seem slow.. maybe people are reading threads & looking at photos, rather than posting.

Now that we have the magic purple bar to indicate new activity in our followed threads I find that I'm more likely to just leave POTN open whilst online, and keep checking it in between browsing other sites. It's always good to see the bar turn purple, and so much easier than the old way of checking subscribed threads :-). I guess that means I'd be included in the members online count more often than I used to be, and maybe others are the same?

Call me tragic but the purple bar is kind of addictive

I feel the same way about the notorious purple bar! I think we need to give it time for more people to learn the new site and hopefully it'll pick back up. It's also late in the US right now. I am always up late and get disappointed when there is not a lot going on when Im wide awake...

Haha, it's the same for me.. most of the action on POTN happens while I'm asleep!

Same thing was with old POTN at 4 am US time. Slow postings.
You can also see thread (page) views count in https://photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php
Refresh that and you'll see there is a lot of page viewing going on...

Chalk another one up for becoming more addicted to the 'notorious purple bar'!
I used to sign out regularly and close the browser, but have been just staying
logged in more and more recently with the new AMASS update.

I always used the forum index page as sort of an indicator of how busy
POTN was when I would log in and suspected that those numbers where
probably a little inaccurate due to people just not logging out.
But now, I suspect those numbers will be more inaccurate with more and more
people staying logged in but not actually being here!

Then there are gear pages, member pages and galleries etc, which are browsed a lot. Also, It is not really viable to make page counters of activity for an AJAX based site as in many places there are no traditional pages (although in AMASS the "landing" page is always a real page, the AJAX comes after that).

For my part, I have just been browsing and totally enjoying the newness of it all. I do intend to post up some photos soon, just been limited on time!

At about 10 p.m. Pacific time last night, RTAT seemed slow to me. No doubt it would show more activity if I didn't have so many forums hidden.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa | Comments welcome
