Just to add. A bit of Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 (temporary/removable) on the screw will just lock everything down tight. Just hand tighten with the provided allen wrench.

When test fitting, there's a bit of slop or gap with the adapter, so the plate rotates/wiggles a bit. With the threadlocker, no movement at all. ;-)a

So with minimal investment you extended the use of your Manfrotto QR plate and can start to use Arca-Swiss plates too on one ballhead. :-)

Conversion is a perfectly good choice, but I am also on the team that feels the Sirui head will be a nice step up too.

Funny you should say that, I've been eyeing Sirui legs and ballhead (K-30X most likely) as a second set and become a travel kit (in addition to the bulkier Manfrotto legs and converted 498rc2).

That Desmond DBA-02 seems to be the only clamp I know or seen that handles RC2 and A/S quite well (in my experience of course). Other clamp conversion pretty much directs you to A/S. The Desmond allows for both... a transition instead of conversion. ;-)a
