Its your flash duration you need to worry about !! HSS does not stop action !! you need to stay below the sync speed of your camera in order to stop motion using a flash.

It's far more complicated, Warren. HSS and Hypersync allow you to use a shutter that is fast enough to freeze the action when your flash duration isn't short enough and/or you are not under exposing ambient by 2-3 stops. The OP simply wants some fill light, which isn't enough to stop the action at flash sync speed in broad day light.

I don't know anything about strobes, but that's close to $10k in gear right - one pack and two heads? You were right - doing this is always more expensive than most people what to spend. I guess that answers the question about way one might use 9 speed ligts (not comparable output of course)

Well there is a very interesting strobe which should be available any day now. The Phottix Indra 500 TTL. I am anxiously waiting!

He's already said he has the Rovelight but with the wrong mount. Just exchange it and get the Bowens mount. The Rovelight will do everything he's looking for. It'll even do strobo but it won't have enough power for outside.
