Hello
I can get one of these lenses in very good condition with box and everything included, is it worth 100 USD?
I don't care about the AF, I just want a macro lens so I can take close-ups? I've Canon 7D and 6D :)

Heya,

I'd do it. Good focal length and good optics. No need for the AF anyways. For $100, it's likely going to be nicer to use than taking your 50 II and putting tubes on it. I would call this a great starter macro lens considering the cost.

Just make sure and use a speedlite and big diffuser and you're set.

Very best,

I agree with Mal- get it. Excellent Macro starter lens, decent working distance, and sharp. Not fast to AF, but you aren't using the AF for macro shots anyways.

if it's the non DG, i'd make sure that you can stop the aperture down(which you probably can't)...I wouldn't want a macro lens that i could only use at f2.8....the DOF would be really difficult to work with

since you mention not needing AF, I wonder if it's the old version that doesn't work well on newer cameras

I had this lens, and produced very nice results on an xti. I would be surprized if the aperture electronics does not couple, but I agree, if it does not, its not worth it.
