Redhead takeoff

This was taken, like many of my photos, at the Quivira National Wildlife Refuge in Stafford, KS. It is on the mid-continent migration route for many species, and huge flocks of cranes, pelicans, geese, shorebirds and all manner of ducks are there spring and autumn. Many other species are present year-round. It is also, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere, so it is never crowed with people and vehicles. I recommend it, next time you are in the middle of nowhere.
