Blowing ice crystals in the air provided a different view of the sun today.

This shot was taken at 3:30 PM. The sun is pretty low in the sky because it sets at 4:27 PM this time of year.

And yes, sundogs are pretty common here, but like you, I can't recall seeing them in the morning.

Nice capture. I've seen some nice sundogs @ Yukon, Canada this September. Your shot captures it so low, almost near the horizon

A shame there wasn't anything else interesting in the shot.

If Facebook is anything to go by, interesting = your coffee or your foot. :)

I like it as it is.
I was hoping to see a Sundog in Alaska last year but a bit of a Halo was as close as we got. That's an excellent shot of a really good example.
Thanks for posting it.

Steve.

That's one hell of a sundog you got there. Just how I remember seeing them @ Yukon.

The image below is from Manitoba and from National Geographic. Look at the resemblance of your picture and this one:

Wow.. They are similar. At the very first glance, I thought you just tweaked the contrast/brightness of my shot, but then I noticed the scene was different.

Thanks for posting that.
