First shots with new 200mm f2.0

I got my new (to me) 200mm f2 last week and was able to use it in 3 different events over the weekend. So far, I'm quite happy with the results.
I can't wait to put it to more use!
All of the following shots were shot wide open at f/2.

Awesome! I'm curious, how did you get the focus on the balance beam shot? It looks like it would've been really hard to get that to lock quickly enough, but that's also not easy movement to track... any tips?

I'm still learning to use the 1DX so I didn't do anything special. I set it to Case 6 focusing mode (I think) and it seemed to perform pretty well.

Well I've only had it a week so I obviously can't make a comprehensive assessment but so far, I'm pretty Wow'd by it's performance! I get the feeling that the only thing that would prevent this lens from reaching the extremely high expectations is user error on my part.

Really like the gymnastic shot. The eyes are a little OOF.

I nearly bought a second hand one but my friend advised the 300/2.8L II (supposed to be a little speedier and quieter during focussing)

All great shots, #2 for me! Love the concentration on both faces. Congrats on the new lens!!

Well I've been using the 70-200 f2.8 IS (I) for a while. I was happy with it's IQ until I added the Sigma 120-300 f2.8 Sport in October. After I got the Sigma, all of the images from the 70-200 just seemed soft.
So over the Thanksgiving weekend I ordered both the 70-200 IS II and this 200 f2 from Lens Authority while they were on sale.

I have NOT yet done any side by side comparison between the 70-200 and 200 other than noticing the obvious differences in the way it separates the subject from the background. (But I'll get around to that soon!)

Great shots. #2 has great subject isolation.

I think you nailed it on the head when you said "decimates the background"!

This is really intriguing. #2 is a fantastic shot. You can feel the intensity! I'll definitely be interested to read your thoughts between this and the 70-200 IS II at 2.8.
