the thread i have been longing for!!!!!

so i have a t2i and want a better camera more geared to what I do. Sports - indoor MMA, Sports - travel soccer, Sports - night deck hockey, Stadium - choir

see that sports part.. hah...

anyway I was longing for the 7dm2 before it was introduced and figured it wouldnt come so I have been searching for the last year.
I actually came to searching the Sony A77ii high and low. Not much out there.. some good some not.

some people say the EVF makes them not want it for sports and prefer not to do so.
Others say you get used to it..

so here is the deal....

anyone here have a 7dm2 (I see someone with 1dx) AND A77ii that can answer this...

Is 7dm2 still worth the extra money or will the A77ii not dissapoint me in super low light high shutter action sports?

thanks all

You may want to start a new thread with that question. This thread is actually about the a7ii, not the a77ii. You'll likely get more of the appropriate eyeballs on a fresh thread.

Just got the camera today. I wanted to see how the IS and the internal stabilization worked together. For best results I had to use focus peaking and the movements of the image in the viewfinder were a bit strange, a new series of shifts as the stabilizer made up its mind. These are both crops and edited. The cardinal is a heavy crop. The flower a slight crop. The lens is the Canon 400mm DO f4 IS.

Out and about with a Sigma Sport 120-300 and Metabones adapter on the a7II. I like that it reports the focal length at max zoom as 450mm when I select the APS-C setting. Oops. Wrong. My downloader reported the focal length, but it shows 300mm when it was uploaded here. These shots were at the 450mm field of view.

Thanks for that, R. I'm surprised there is not more action in this thread. I think a lot of folks are waiting for the next 7R or a9 to come out. In the meantime this has the same capabilities as Leica's top of the line Type 240 , M rangefinder in sensor size and megapixels, plus a three-way internal image stabilization. If I have a complaint, it is that the card slot is so tight that it keeps locking the cards when I insert them into the camera. I had to superglue the little white tab on my Lexar SDXC card in the open position.

These images use the CV 40mm f1.4 S.C. lens and the VM close focus adapter.

I could not understand why I was getting what I thought was low resolution in these images. Figured it out this morning. I had set it in APS-C mode. (Sound of hitting head with palm of hand)

Just popping in to say hi. I'm not about to chuck my Canon gear; but I rented the Sony and was very smitten and decided that it was the thing I was looking for as a lightweight daily use option.

Mucking about at the office with the remote app and the 24-70:

(SR3) Great news: Sony testing High Resolution 48MP mode on the A7II?

A source told me that Sony is testing a High Resolution mode that works just like on the Olympus E-M5II. The sensor takes multiple shots in slightly different positions moved by the stabilization system and then combines time in one High Res Picture. The source told me he saw it creating 48.9 MP images on the fly. Of course that features works fine when shooting still objects. The source doesn’t know yet if the tested feature will work as hoped by Sony. If yes than it could be introduced in a future firmware upgrade. If you want to check out how good the Olympus solution works check out the test at Imaging Resource (external link).

Source: SonyAlphaRumors (external link)

It would be nice if they would add this feature.
