all looking good .love the versatility of this lens from distant to extreme close up ,as usual all shots hand held . TIP i have now invested in a black rapid shoulder strap to ease the weight when on walk-about ,works a treat to

I'm still sorting it out but i think i'm getting there. *fingers crossed.

I'm shooting wide open on everything right now because I don't want to introduce sweet spot sharpness. Honestly this lens is pretty good wide open.

I have the C and I agree, I too am shooting wide open initially, but from images posted I am seeing, looks like f8 is the sharpest, and still with good DOF

I need a question answered ,as you have seen from my photos my lens is extremely sharp on close to mid range targets I.e up to approx 250 yards/metres after that I,m noticing a degradation in I.q .,in fact I would say that if I still had my old 400 canon it would be sharper after cropping to the same size than this lens at 600mm .been trying via testing to pin it down to aperture ,servo mode ,etc the lens is pin sharp till it hits that magical distance then goes downhill fast is the best way to put it .
So is anyone else suffering /noticing the same . I don't want to change my lens as its sharp for most shots but this is annoying to say the least

I think you might be onto something. I think long distances are a problem with sharpness. I wouldn't think of shooting at 250 yards though. I might stretch for 100 yards and that's about it.

Been having a play with this on and off all day ,I really want to put it to bed before my vacation next month where I,ll have no computer access ,so it's got to be right .
The conclusions I have come to today lead me to think that on the 70d anyway the best results are coming from f10 and using a.i focus rather than AI servo .this was in dull weather ,also spoke to sigma u.k on this and they couldn't give me a straight answer on it ,which I suppose is to be expected
