Nice series blackfox :)

tack sharp even resized to fit the forum. often instead, i noticed, when i upload my stuff on POTN server, are so different from full quality.

did you mind to share some lines/tips from ur PS (LR?) "sharpening-before-web-resize" routine?

i know, there's no magic wand button!!! but so i can study and see where i'm wrong :D

thank you so much in advance

yep no problem ,during p/p in PS6 i resize the image to either 1024 pixels or 1536 pixels on longest side and apply bicubic best for reduction to it .,this reduces the image size on screen i then bring it back to full size before applying sharpening,i presume that you you layer the bird and background to apply noise reduction ,so sharpening is then applied to the bird (foreground layer) only ,i have just been experimenting with sharpening using NIK EFEX detail sharpener as the whole editing suite is now free to download from google ,its a little bit more flexible than photoshops as shown in the skylark shots i am about to post ,but as with all sharpening tools needs to be applied with care and baby steps .
weirdly enough i find this forum to be the best on the whole web for displaying photos on as they always seem to appear near to original to me

Only the 2nd day trialling the S156S and Canon 1.4TCII but I'm ready to call it.
I say useable / worthwhile. Maybe not the combination to use if you want to make a 6ft by 4ft poster.
Making decent 12 x 8 inch prints is a common benchmark (for me) and I think that is realistic.

Full (4896 pixel wide) 1D4 image, resized:

IMAGE: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1710/25564381323_0a711443c6_o.jpg
3210 pixel wide crop:
Used monopod, but one shot AF mode on moving target and at 1/250 sec probably some slight motion blur.
ie definitely not a best case scenario.
