Canon and Nikon both have dropped prices of full frame bodies.
May have to go back and see Santa and add a second Mark III to my list.

What's kinda weird is that with the rebates you can buy a 5DIII with a Pixma Pro-100 printer for significantly less than the 5DIII body alone.

B&H shows:

5DIII bundled with Pro-100 printer.... $2449 net, after $650 mail in rebate.

5DIII body only............... $2779 net, after $300 mail in rebate.

Sweet! Let's see what amazon will do for price protection. Otherwise, I'll send it back ;-)a

A manufacturer's rebate isn't a price protection/match item is it? That is from the manufacturer as a mail in rebate, not another site's lower price.

Is this likely to be very temporary? I was hoping to pick up one of these in three months or so, but was hoping the price would be about this by then. Didn't think they'd drop right now. :(

I purchased my 5DMKIII from Amazon last Friday and found it for $300.00 less this week on their site.
The price drop has nothing to do with the $300.00 rebate. It's a price drop, period.

I called Amazon and they gladly refunded the $300. I'll send in my $300 rebate form and get that too.
That makes my 5DMKIII kit with the 24-105L come to $3400. Not to bad, IMO.

wow Canon NZ only has a $200 cash back. Or to put it another way, that's a $155US cash back at current exchange rate.

I think it has more to do with a stronger US dollar.

Good i found few gray market stores in my country, they sell those Canon gear brand new at low price even lower than your prices+rebates+free shipping, so i no longer buy from online unless something not available here, i found Canon 5D3 here brand new for about $1995-2050 body only, that is almost a straight price. i can fight and they might give me about $20-50 rebates sometimes.

In late 2012 i bought my 1DX brand new for about $6300, and now we are in 2014 and no issue yet, the price dropped even more for 1DX now, so i can imagine 5D3 is lower prices too, i think it is almost same price of 70-200 2.8II which i bought it for around $2050 that time in 2013.
