I started planning our first snow camping / photography trip for this winter and thought it would be fun to share and get advice. We will be camping on Mt. Hood at Trillium Lake which is a short snowshoe hike into from the parking area (we did the hike in about an hour last year). I was able to get some good images during the day but the idea of a clear night in the winter just has me drooling all over myself lol.

Has anyone else snow camped in order to get great night sky images or that perfect sunrise sunset color?

Well, it's not a whole lot different from camping in any other kind of weather except that you need to manage moisture more carefully and will have to be careful to keep your water in a liquid state. Keep your batteries warm, don't bring food that freezes solid and becomes inedible, bring hand and foot warmers, etc. All basic advice, really. If you were doing something more involved than Trillium, I would make a point of terrain safety (avalanche awareness, etc.), but the hike that you're talking about is not going to put you in that kind of danger.
