Would you trade a 6D and 135L for a 5D MK III?

Would you take this deal? I don't use the 135L that much and I have been thinking of selling it anyway. Both cameras have around 26k shutter clicks.

What other lenses do you have, and what do you shoot?

Heya,

Me personally? No. I would rather have the 6D and the 135L. But that's because I don't need the autofocus system of the 5D3, therefore, the 6D offers me more for my use.

But what is important is what you have need for. Do you need the AF system of the 5D3? Is it vital to what you shoot? If not, then enjoy the 5D2/6D that you have as you're not getting a real gain, unless you're specifically taking advantage of that AF system.

If you need none of that, well, you can always sell the 6D & 135L. $1300 easy for the 6D. $800 for the 135L. $2100 pretty easy for those two right now.

Very best,

Do it, fair trade.

I personally wouldn't do it since I love the 135, but since it's not your cup of tea, get the body you want.

It really depends. Do you feel that you are limited in some way by the 6D that would be fulfilled by the 5D3? I own a 5D3 and there are very, very rare occasions that I shoot in where the 6D wouldn't do the job as well as the 5D3. Personally I wouldn't mind being on the other side of your trade; getting a camera that does 99% of what I need along with some mighty fine glass in exchange for technology I don't really need. You also have to consider that the 5D3 is going to depreciate a lot faster than the glass so with the trade you're reducing your trade/sale value against future gear that might be even better for you than the 5D3. Good luck.

I don't need the AF, but then again because I am only an amateur and I really don't full frame or any of the technological improvements. Because of what I paid for the 6D and the 135L my cash investment is only $1500, so it seems like a good deal. I gain focus speed and accuracy on everything and lose one focal length which is covered by the 70-200 and I also have the 100L for any portraits I might shoot. I also figure the better focusing will allow me to get some birds in flight which I have had very little luck with so far. I can always buy the 135L down the road since there is always someone selling one due to lack of use.
Is my reasoning out of whack?

If you don't use/need the 135, go for it.

Since your investment is so low and you don't use the 135L that much I say go for it. Sounds like a great deal.

From a monetary value, it's a good deal.. If you use the 135 at all (an IMO, 70-200 2.8 is not an equivalent replacement) then I wouldn't, unless you need the 5D3 AF. Sounds like you don't, but if you really don't use the 135 and it'll make you happy, go for it.

I actually sold the 5D3 and replaced it with a 6D + some lenses. For my purposes there's not much, if any, AF difference. Of course I'm 90% center point focus/recompose guy, so YMMV.
