Woohoo to your GH4 order. I'm truly in love with m4/3s and marvel at the size.
But you are very right when it comes to low light and noise. Is what is eh.
We are headed way south, about 10K miles, in a couple of weeks. Not one EOS body
or big white will be going. Sonys and Panasonics only-kinda like an exclusive party Ha!
I bet there will be a time when I hate that the 7Dii is home sitting on a shelf but
the reality is I'm not a pro, no picture I get while traveling hasn't already been done.
Another reality is my back will thank me and also there is a challenge in doing more with less.
I am splurging with one 'heavy' lens, the new Sony 24-240mm....if it gets here.
Regardless enjoy the GH4. It is an amazing achievement in many ways. You have the
Gx7 which is itself an incredible machine.
In the meantime I'm still studying the GH4 and Oly 40-150 2.8-

Wow, lovely !

My GH4 arrived and I am on the point of selling my 5D III and L lenses. I have been offered a good price for them and am very close to letting them go. My 5D III and 24-70 Mk II are stunning but huge - and not getting used.

The GH4 with a 12-35 f2.8 weighs in at 860g. The 5D with the 24-70 is 1.8kg !!

Weight and size does mean the 5D is not something I will put in a bag to go walking around London whereas the little Panny is. It is no good seeing a good picture and not having a camera to use.

I just have to get out there and use it !

Congrats John !!
The 12-35mm is a primo lens that's for sure; in fact I haven't found a 'poor' Pana lens yet.
I'd beg you to add the 45mm 1.8 as soon as possible. You won't have stabilization but I bet
you won't need it :)

Have been using the GH4 mainly for video for around 6 months now. Absolutely fantastic camera. Shooting in 4k and mastering out to 1080 gives so much scope for manipulating framing and 'zooming' in post without losing any quality at all. The 12-35 2.8 is a decent little lens too.

I got the m4/3 bug and have since added an EM5 (superb but it broke) and recently a tiny GM1. I won't be dumping my full frame gear - m4/3 just can't compete for certain things and I do miss the resolution when editing - but I'll definitely be keeping an m4/3 kit for video and for compactness.

Scott I'm with you in keeping the FF kit as long as I can carry it and hoping by the time that I cannot the mirrorless worlds autofocus tracking ability will have reached a point where I won't need the EOS body.

The more I use the GH4 the more and more and more impressed I am.
It really can do everything but birds in flight....well it can do birds in flight
just not well enough to suit me.
Here is a 7 shot tone mapped
HDR via the GH4 and Oloneo Photo Engine-

Today was cycling. A semi-frequent trail we use prepping for the big rides. The trail is the Virginia Creeper Trail and it goes through rural southwest Virginia; a rail-trail where an old railroad bed has been transformed for use by cyclist and walkers. The trail crosses many very old trestles. One was (4 years ago) destroyed by a hurricane-a freak event for this area in the mountains. The new/replacement trestle though not as enticing as the old trestles still has an appeal-

On this one I took -3,-2,-1,0 1,2,3 and used LR Enfuse to blend the exposures.
Nothing fantastic but a nice exercise (not counting climbing down the steep bank to get below the trail that crosses the trestle) in blending-

Here's the front yard (or backyard depending on how you look at it)

MM, the images you get out of this camera really tempt me...and I don't need to be tempted! I really need a camera that does great video, and I think that might be my excuse to get the GH4.
