I know many Landscape shooters wish canon would improve on its 11.5 stop DR, given Sony has over 14 stops. Many of you are aware of this, but for those who are not, Magic lantern software allows for Dual ISO shooting in a single shot, which can truly add 2 stops of DR to your images, at the cost possile slight loss of resolution at your shadows and highlights.

Here are two example, similar shot and scene and how much it was pushed in LR. as you can see, no visible banding, and quite printable images.

1. Exposure +2, Shadows +50

Great results! I really need to start using ML, especially because I'm doing more video now.

So you increased exposure in LR instead of in camera. Did you do that just as a test?

Chris, I use the 100-800 (3 stop bracketting equiv) or 100-1600. You shoot for the highlights. thats your iso 100 shot. it automatically then pushes every other line it captures to iso 800. so essentially every other line is pushed 3 stops already. You get a cr2 file. there is an action in LR that auto process it in dng file. during processing, in the mid tones, it pulls back the over exposed lines. so you have full resolution. in the highlights, the iso 800 lines are blown, so it interpolates the iso 100 lines. in the deep shadows the iso 100 lines are underexposed so it primarily uses iso 800 lines. it creates a dng file for you which looks as if shot at iso 100 (highlights tamed, shadows are black). then you process it like you would do any other file.
to give you an idea, here are the zeroed images, before processing, to see how much I had to push the images.

You can't. Someone might start having a go for Sony if they think the can get much better video out of it. Right now that looks very unlikely.

They will never do 1D series cameras for reasons they mention.

Ok, doesn't matter, i don't have problems with DR, i still can get amazing masterpiece results without this ML.
