Had NEX-5R previous and only had 18-55 and 55-210. Just upgraded to A6000 last week.

I did try 18-55 and 55-210. Just ok quality. I think A6000 needs much nicer lens to take advantage of the sensor.

Decided to go all prime with Sony 50mm f/1.8 OSS and Sigma 19mm f/2.8 for A6000's 24mp sensor. Lens will arrive Friday.

Still trying to figure out options for 85-135mm range options. Must be a manual focus lens prime of course since there is no auto focus option.

Leaning toward Pentax SMC 85mm or 135mm.

If you want zoom and OSS and improvement from kit lens, the only two options are 16-70 zeiss and 18-105 f/4. Both are quite expensive and present a marginal improvement over 18-55mm.

There are Auto focus adapters for Canon EF, Minolta/Sony Alpha A-mount and Contax G lenses. I have a nice set of Contax G primes including a 90mm f2.8 for my alpha6000, I only have the manual focus adapter for my Contax lenses.

Did not know that. Does the adapter also change aperture as well? Is it contrast detection AF only or phase detection as well? Will also need check size, weight and price. Lots more research to do.

Here are some links for different AF adapters so you can see the specs, you can also search youtube for video reviews.

Sony A-mount to E-mount. http://store.sony.com …as-Alpha-DSLR-Accessories (external link)

Metabones Canon EF to E-mount AF http://www.metabones.com/products/details/MB-EF-E-BM4 (external link)

Metabones Speed booster Canon EF to E-mount http://www.metabones.com …cts/details/MB_SPEF-E-BM2 (external link)

Amazon link for cheap AF Canon EF to E-mount adapter http://www.amazon.com …lite+canon+ef+to+sony+nex (external link)

Contax G to E-mount AF adapter http://www.deo-tech.com/products/product-01/ (external link)

This should give you some stuff to think about.

Thanks for the links. Good information.

I like the cheap Canon EF to E-mount adapter. I might be able to use Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM with a $100 adapter.

Both Metabones and Sony are a tad too expensive. Sony LA-EA2 might a possible option but still a tad expensive on the used market.

Sony A mount selection at 85mm is not the best. Still hoping a $400-$500 E mount 85mm f/1.8 OSS. That would a great head and shoulder portrait lens.

AF adapters for non Sony mounts will be agonizingly slow, A-mount adapter will be noisy with screw drive lenses so not for video.

18-105 is the best lens for video that Sony has now, IMHO. At $500 used, I don't think it's that expensive.

Thinking of getting the A6000 and using my current set of EF CAnon lenses (and Canon mount third party lenese, Tamron,Sigma) instead of Sonys, anybody here have an ideal or experience using this setup?

I am having great luck with a 50mm f1.8 Canon FD lens and adapter. It is a blast to use with Sonys focus peeking and I nail
focus every time.

Auto focus will be slow and might not work at all with some non Canon lenses but you can get aperture control and I.S. which was worth it for me.

Yes, forget about AF - however MF with focus peaking is a snap.

I purchased the A6000 kit with the 16-50 and 55-210. Then added the 35mm 1.8 (which is awesome), bokeh seems better than my 5D which could be just because I'm using smaller image circle or better said the sweet part of the lens.

Then got a $90 EF adaptor and put my EF50 1.8 on and it works fine. So really all I need is a 20-24mm for a wide prime to round out my super three.

Not willing to pay $1000 for Zeiss. So will be looking for alternative. But for the moment I will use my EF 17-40 for wide shots.

I've also heard about this adapter. But I think only one person here on the forums has used it/knows someone who has one.

So I am thinking about buying a 50 1.8 for my new a6000.. I love my 1.8 nikon so this should fit the bill for me and I want a small lens. Who else has a 50 1.8 that they love

God created the beauty. My camera and I are a witness..
