Copy and Pasting issues

A lot of my research comes from this awesome forum. My researching involves copying and pasting certain phrases I see here into a search engine and getting the results I need.

However, I've noticed with this new software that when I select a phrase that I want to look up I also get a link to the page where I got the phrase from.

For example:

Here I selected just the word 'the' in a post and copied it. When I paste in the search box I get the Read More link. Is there a way to turn this off? It's actually a little annoying. I know the word 'the' isn't such a big deal but something like 'Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM' is more tedious to type out and having to go back into my search box and remove the link is kind of inconvenient.

Pekka's announced that in AMASS 1.1 when you copy fewer than 300 characters, the link won't be appended.

And the work around, before the AMASS 1.1 release, is to highlight the text and use the
right mouse button option "Search(insert your favorite search engine) for (highlighted text)" if your browser supports it.

That works fine for Google but another instance I use copy Paste is when I find something I'd like to have (lens or other camera accessory) and I search eBay using Copy Paste. Doesn't work very well. I am glad it's being addressed in AMASS 1.1.

I am glad I looked before posting. I was getting ready to post about this very issue. Also very happy it is being addressed in v1.1

I had the same issue as Cameraman using firefox. Had to delete firefox so I use IE now and there is no hint of where the copy and paste comes from .

Firefox has several search engines built in (see screenshot) which can be set to default at any time.
When you set a particular search engine as default it will be used in the 'right click' menu.

To set a search engine as default in Firefox:
Go to - Tools > Options > Search Tab/Icon, then select whatever you want from there!
You can even browse for other search providers and add them to the list if you want!
