Hi folks,

I'm not too sure where to post this but i'm looking for help with a standalone GPS tracker to geotag my picturess with.

I have a 5D2 and a 1D3 and use a mac mini and macbook pro for editing.

I'm trying to find a standalone GPS unit for no more than £50 that will be recognised by my mac or if need be a virtualbox of windows 7.

I have been looking at the holux 241, Photomate 887 or the QStarz BT-Q1300S.

I don't really want go to the route pf getting a new camera or the WFT connectors.

I just use my iPhone to take a picture at the same location (usually a "behind the scenes" shot with my camera & tripod), then copy the GPS information from that shot to my 5D pictures once I get them all on my computer. No need to pick up yet another piece of equipment when I already have something in my pocket that can handle the GPS tagging. I've used both Lightroom and Aperture to copy & paste the GPS info, although I'm sure you could do it with other software also.

See i would use my iPhone but i'm often out for a long time and changing location so don't want to have to remember to keep taking photos each time i move. The other issue i have is that i used gps4cam and whilst a great app my battery lasted about 3 hours if that and i was out shooting longer. I got to the point where i was either going to geotag my pics or be able to call my wife to pick me up.

That's why i'm looking for a stand alone option.
