I saw some older threads but wondering if anyone is currently using this tripod. Amazon has it for $70 so am thinking about going for it. Any reason not to?

Based on my experience with their stands, I would never put a camera on their tripods. Actually our church has 4 sets and I have one, and they all have issues over time, every single one of them, so it isn't a fluke with just one set. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

Thanks for the info! I never thought it would be so hard to find a tripod. I do 95% real estate but don't currently have a ton of money to drop on a tripod. I thought after reading the reviews on this one it would be great for the money. 6D | 5D4 | 24-105 f4L | Sigma 50 2.8 Macro | 17-40 f4L| 135 f2L | 70-200 f2.8L ii | Sigma 35 1.4 Art | Canon 24-70 ii

Dec 18, 2014 18:12 | #4 I ordered it and got it today. It is Heavy but seems to be built like a tank. I can position my 7D with grip and 55-250 in any position and it doesn't budge at all. It will get some use in the next week or so and I will report back. Seems to be a good deal for $70. 6D | 5D4 | 24-105 f4L | Sigma 50 2.8 Macro | 17-40 f4L| 135 f2L | 70-200 f2.8L ii | Sigma 35 1.4 Art | Canon 24-70 ii

Having said that I felt it was in many ways more stable and sturdy than some of the other brands. As an engineer I did feel the assembly was less than ideal in that some screws and bolts weren't tight. An hour with an Allen wrench, screwdriver and some blue locktite and it was to my liking. By the way I've done the same thing to a high end Manfrotto. Probably a good idea on any tripod due to the specialized fasteners that can be difficult to replace if lost.
