I am always paranoid about about focus being off so I tend to go with a smaller aperture for more DOF and room for error. Not sure if it makes any difference, may just be a mental crutch.

Nice shots!

Whats with the F16's non symmetrical ordinance? That plane is a personal fave!

Out of curiosity: Did you shoot on shutter priority? or simply experiment with ISO/F stop combo's?

The thingy on the left wing is an AIS pod: http://www.dreamlandresort.com/info/acmi.html (external link)

I shoot aperture priority, and set exposure at 2/3's - 1 1/3 over, depending on the sky conditions, so the aircraft isn't underexposed. I set the ISO to give me at least 1/1000 SS, but prefer about 1/1600. Shaky hands and panning jets...

Nice work! Gotta love the versatility of the 100-400 II!

Hope ya go butterfly chasin when they arrive!

Thank you very much.
I haven't had much luck with butterflies. It's probably because I don't understand their behavior patterns.

You'll find one that will keep coming back to the same area if there are few disturbances... then just take a ton of shots!!

Took about 1,000 aircraft shots this week. This lens rocks for that kinda stuff.

Nice, looking forward to this year's airshow. Hopefully nothing comes up.
