Hi

Been thinking of upgrading to this lens from the Sigma 150-600 C but worried about loosing the extra reach. Anyone using this lens with a 1.4 converter on a full frame?

If so what's your thoughts - already know this is a better lens in terms of quality and it's IS but not much info on the net with a converter.

Thank you.

I often use the 1.4x III with the 100-400 II. Mostly with a 1DX2, but sometimes with a 5D4. Works great! I'm shooting go-kart races tomorrow and will be using the 1.4x III for that.

Here's an example at 560mm:

Most of my birdpics are with 5DIV, 100-400II and 1.4EXIII, coming from sigma 150-600Sport I've got no regrets whatsoever.

Many of my Ecuador bird shots were with the 100-400II/1.4XIII, but on a 7D2. Many were seriously cropped too. I thought they looked pretty good. :-)

Very impressive sharpness with the 1.4x III.

I too like the 100-400 II with the 1.4x III. I get nice images with this combination. My problem is that on any day of bird shooting, I'm going from static shots to BIF shots. I don't really care for shooting BIF shot with the 1.4x on my lens. Like Archi, I use a 7DII most of the time. It's just too much horsepower for me. I loose too many birds while trying to find them in the air. So I have to make the decision of whether to use my 100-400 with or without the TC. I frequently make the wrong decision. :-(
