I went out shooting yesterday at a local park for a change. My friend Andy and I spotted a few egrets among other birds.
I decided it would be a good time to try for a few "artistic" shots. I was trying for a darker BG and well exposed bird. with the Great Egret.

What do you guys think?

With a snack. It actually washed the worm off in the water before eating it.

And a slightly different angle/framing.

And the Snowy Egret.
This guy was much smaller than the Great Egret.

I took this portrait because it let me close and the water in the BG looked amazing with the fall leaves reflecting in it.

Beautiful set Jeremy. White birds can be so difficult to get a good exposure on without blowing or washing them out. You have a kind of spot light effect on the first couple that makes them stand out a bit.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

These are 2 different Heron which is cool. Great egret on top (black legs) and Snowy on the bottom, Black/yellow legs.

The Great egret up top was shot to expose only the bird correctly or slightly underexposed. This gave the "spotlight effect" John mentioned. I'm glad it worked as planned as I haven't tried it before.
