Classic Chobe Sunset

Every part of every day at Chobe NP is special; however, for me, nothing beats that last 30 minutes of sunlight when we get to shoot directly into the sun with a telephoto lens to create images with a special mood. I've shot this type scene with ellies, hippos, giraffe and even waterbuck. They all turn into pretty special memories for me. If you haven't ever seen an African sunset, make sure you put it on your bucket list.

When the subject is below the horizon, composition and creating separation becomes a little more challenging, but if you have water as a background, you can make it work. Both this Cape Buffalo and the young lion are against a water background at sunset.
