Recently took my first trip to Hawaii and managed to get a few bird shots.

The Hawaiian Gallinule is a subspecies of the Common Gallinule found only on Kauai and Oahu.

The Nene is endemic to Hawaii.

The White-rumped Shama and the Red-crested Cardinal are introduced species now found all over the island.

Thanks. There are also Northern Cardinals on the island. They look really out of place.

VERY nice set of images Ken. The Red-crested Cardinal is a real beauty, I'd love to have one in my collection. Sadly a Pacific trip isn't in my future at this point.

Thanks. Saw the cardinals several times, but this was the only one when I had the camera and the 100-400.
