I have started to play with the free version of CrashPlan, mostly for our son away at college. I set CrashPlan up for his laptop to backup to an external USB drive. All he has to do is plug it in and CrashPlan does the rest. I also used the "backup to another" feature to backup his files to my hard drive at home. He stores everything in Google Drive, so including the original file on his laptop he should have at least 3 copies of every file (4 if he remembers to connect the external drive once in a while). And now that I think about it, since my drive is backed up his files are way more covered than mine. Important to know if something is due at midnight and the files are not to be found on his laptop.
I have never been completely happy with my personal backup plan, but my experience with CrashPlan definitely has me thinking that it should be a part of my process as well.
