A few more photos from along the Chobe River n Botswana. The pair of birds are juvenile Makachite Kingfishers and the single is an adult. These are very small birds as you might can tell from the small reed they are perched upon..

These two photos are also from Chobe National Park in Botswana. These are photos of the giant kingfisher, which is, as the name notes, one of the larger kingfishers. I'd guess they are slightly larger than a North American Blue Jay in size.

The malakite has been my white whale. It is skiddish and ducks into deep brush. When I had a shot, I'd have the wrong exposure, zoom range or shutter speed. With the May trip, I got many great shots as though they were posing for me.
