Annie,

I love your flower photograph. Brilliant colors and nice, blurred background. Well done.

Thanks, Kim. The flowers don't move as fast as the BIFs so I can catch them!

My mother in law often quoted: "Patience is a virtue... possess it if you can. It's seldom found in woman..... but Never in a man."

I can attest to the truth of this little poem, at least, in my case.

That is why they put pubs in shopping malls.

I decided to upgrade my Kenko 1.4x TC to the new Canon EF 1.4x III teleconvertor. Here are a few shots from today, taken with my Canon 7D2 and 100-400L II.

And here is a shot of the same night heron without the TC:

Great shots, the night heron is really posing for you!

What is your initial impression of the new TC vs the Kenko?

Thanks, Jake.

While I have not done any controlled testing between the Canon and Kenko (the Canon just arrived yesterday), the auto focus performance with the Canon seems slightly quicker, and I do not really see any loss in detail between those two heron shots with and without the TC. With the Kenko, I felt I was getting a very slight softening of the image -- nothing horrible or unacceptable, though. Physically, the Canon is bigger and heavier, and is of course weather sealed.

If I get a chance, I may try a more controlled test between the two TC's in my backyard. Or maybe I won't, as so far I am pleased with the results from the Canon and don't want to burst my bubble. ;-)a

It turned up this morning so it was rude not to head out and find a duck :)
This is an upgrade from an old 70-300 Tamron kit lens and my first piece of 'quality' glass. It's gonna be a learning curve.

Cool. Where is that exactly? We were in Reid State Park a few years ago came across a similar scene. Piping Plovers my wife thinks. I spent hours shooting but had the 7Dc back then.

Ipswich, roughly mid way between Cape Anne and the NH border. I had the lens mounted on my 5DIII (decided to leave my 70D home as I thought I would need to shoot wider on the beach). I'm glad I did.
