Ya I get that a lot, I was with Four foxes yesterday. And I've posted more than 7 or 8 in the last year. The worst of it is the good stuff I cant post. because if you do everyone thinks you baited and I don't. Guess I need to find something else to shoot. They are cool I know,... but it must be monotonous to watch lol

But I guess its all I have !!

Are you serious, don't stop posting fox shots, they are incredible! How do you get so close to them? I see them here on occasion, such beautiful creatures, only wish I could get that close!

We are digging out from this monster scaryblizzardsnowstorm, and getting a lot of traffic at the feeder out back of our house. Shooting through a window isn't optimal, but I'll take what I can get.

Thank's matt, I'm really glad you enjoy the fox as I do, I've never found anything in the bush like them. They really are like house dog's in that they love to check thing's out once they realize there not on the menu lol
I have a hard time posting stuff that looks baited. And I hate defending myself lol, I'm not saying that I have never feed a family or two, this year I have saved three families of fox from Mange and I feed them to save them, Meds in the food. But I don't bait to shoot. I have one young fox that loves to climb wood and tree's, but the images from him/her look baited and post's just about anywhere get few likes because of that and them its all about Baiting, I guess a product of the digital world and people voicing the thought's on Facebook and such.

By the way,.. Great stuff..wish I had Cardinals. your second shot is what i was dealing with yesterday

Jeff,

Even with all the joking here, I don't know anyone who seriously thinks these animals are your pets or that you bait them. You've mentioned the things you do to get them interested enough in you to come take a look... that and with the foxes, you've been able to get some of them over the mange which would otherwise kill them.

I don't ever get tired of seeing their happy faces. They bring joy to my days when they show up here on POTN.... so please, don't stop posting the photos of all creatures large and small you discover in your neck of the woods.

Jeff, love the fox shots, all of them. I'd love to see the ones that you hesitate in posting, but if that will cause you grief, keep them to yourself.

By "baited", do you mean that a photographer would set out food to attract the animal? If that is what you mean, then how is that different from feeding wild birds? Just on the last page in this thread there were posts about whether shelled or unshelled peanuts are better to attract blue jays, and no one was complaining about that (or bird feeders, for that matter).

I ask this out of curiosity, as it is outside my area - what are the ethics of using food to attract wildlife to photograph? I understand there are general arguments about habituating wild animals to human feeding, but is there more to it?

Cheers, Damien

lol thanks, thats the fur versus feather thing. Feeding ver baiting,....we are not doing that one here lol ..It always starts a big debate so lets not do that. but its a good one. I started a thread
https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1415728 for just that reason. Of course everyone has different thoughts on that subject. but I would sure listen in that thread

Your light seems awesome Kevin, its my worst light ...I just don't know how to shoot in sunlight ?? its so harsh hear this time of year

It's very harsh here Jeff and right overhead at mid-day which makes early morning and late evening the best time to defeat the "black holes for eyes" problem.

Took 14 shots to get just these 4 as the others were totally unusable. It's densely wooded around the pond and pretty dark in there but the shafts of sunlight coming through the palms and eucalypts still managed to find their way bang onto the white areas and burn them out. If I've a bit of time spare I may try one shot HDR on them but I doubt that there'll be much detail in those highlights to find.

I guess we all are dealing with the same problem's, this time of year my best light is when its snow hard, if there's a huge storm going on we get this greenish light that seems to glow and rebound some how. My best defence is manual mode but right now with the cold my glasses get so dark ( transitions ) that I cant see the meter...real bummer.

From my Gallery ...Shooting kits was exactly the same

They're the rescued pair at Australia Zoo Damien. I've been trying to catch them for ages but they've always been hiding in too much shade. Whenever they come into the light, the white washes right out.
