Thanks Lbsimon.

Yes, the AFMA is a nice thing to have and check existing lenses. I don't have a desire for TCs so far. Still, good to know that the Kenko does a good job, just in case.

You will! :-)

Refurbished 7DIIs are apparently available for a few hundred dollars more than the 70D. The 7DIi is pretty close to a perfect combination with the 100-400 II.

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

Matt I'm sure your just going through the pain's of stepping into a long lens, I would say your copy is every bit as sharp as mine. Working with a new lens is as you say fun but its the challenge that makes us better photographer's. I'm sure you will get a handle on 400mm and everything in-between. Its not in the PP ,.. My raw is where the sharpness is,..

More amazing fox portraiture, so damn good!

Thanks for the positive motivation, sir. It's definitely getting me out shooting more, finding new haunts and techniques. The joy is in the journey.

I'm most certainly keeping an eye on refurb 7DIIs. Hopefully Canon still has the loyalty program, as I have a film-Elph ready to trade in!

They must be eating pretty good even in the bad weather. I recall get shot of one in the winter and it look malnourished.

Found this roost today, Black flying fox roosting with Brown (grey headed).

One of the hardest things I've tried to shoot as they roost with their backs to the sun, hence their face is in the shade. Add to that the rain yesterday and despite the sun today, so much moisture in the air softens the image. Anyone that's photographed bats knows that they wouldn't look as if they were in such good light when roosting, it's just that opening up the shadows makes it seem that way. Anyways, I've done my best with a bit of post processing and I ain't no whiz at that,.......... but ............enjoy..........they may look cute but remember, they carry the Hendra virus which is a killer.

Looking at the stunning shots on this thread has got me thinking about getting rid of my 500 and adding a 100-400ii 7D2 combo, anyone done this? Loving the foxes, we have a couple come near our garden, hoping for some young next year.
