I was going to answer but left that to you lol. Stems from the fox pet thing from days of old. As of right now I can't pickup my camera. May back is in much turmoil. If I was a horse I would shoot me.

I hope it gets better soon, Jeff. I've been there before. We need more fur. ;)

Pondrader what's up with the back??????
Any kinda of back turmoil is not a good thing.
I live with chronic issues from degenerative disks.
To avoid the knife and drugs I do all kinds of weird stretches
daily, part of the routine.

I call them 8 hour birds (typically 8 hours of attempting to get a shot between successes)

I spent more than 8 hours trying when this bird turned up, it must have known so it obliged with a pose each side.

I probably overdid the flash on the golf ball above. This one showed up after only a couple of hours and as I had not put in the required 8 hours, penalty was clipped tail feathers. Other than tail clip, I do like the result though (flash used).

Blue on the tail gives it away?

Yes and no red beak or red around the eyes.
They change at different times too, this male in the same colony and same day:

I notice that you use the word "colony" Dave. Is that how they operate? I saw just one in my yard about 6 weeks ago but lately they've been visiting in groups of 3 or 4. Not a patch of blue amongst them though? Very skittish and I can only get a shot from behind camo netting that I've draped from the pergola. As soon as I step out from behind to get closer, they're off! I'm nearly at the stage where I can reach out and hand feed the lorikeets and miners but these little fellers won't have none of it.

I borrowed the term from a recent Powerful owl workshop I attended. We were doing pellet analysis (I believe still often done in US schools for science) and the Ornithologist commented, that among other animals, my Powerful owl had consumed an entire colony of Noisy Minors.

I just googled, and it seems Colony is the accepted collective noun for fairy-wrens.
