After many field trips trying to capture a raptor but to no avail, this cheeky bugger came and sat on the wires behind my back yard. Big crop.

Beautiful raptor Kevin. We're going for Kites next spring...trying to make plans even now as I type. I think---especially this one you captured--are one of the most alluring raptors in the world.

I couldn't believe my luck when I stepped out the back door! They have a cute call as well. There's been a fair swelling of mice numbers locally so I'm guessing this is why it's the first time I've seen one around here.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

I agree. I prefer the amount of saturation in the second shot to that in the third shot, though what you saw in person may have been different

Thanks Smythie. Yes, it was a toss up between the two. I like the saturation in the 2nd same as yourself, but the 3rd shows more detail which is lost when saturated..

I actually prefer #3, but I am usually a "less is better" type person when it comes to saturation. The detail really comes out in that 3rd shot.
