These are great. Hope you are OK, Kev, have been missing your posts.

Yes thanks Annie, I'm fine (physically) but really plssed off tbh. Just been spending a lot of time with my best mate (age 53) and a lovely bloke that took me under his wing when I first came to Oz. He's just been diagnosed terminal inoperable cancer. They gave him just 3 months in early November but he only told me after Xmas so as not to spoil mine. Hardly any symptoms other than a pain in his side. Turns out to be pancreatic cancer that's spread to lungs and liver and they said he must have been nursing it for 15yrs! He's a tough old bugger and is still buggering about cleaning/selling off all his plant and machinery to save his missus the bother after he's gone and you wouldn't even know he was sick!

So folks!...............make sure you have regular checkups at even the slightest pain

I'm sorry to hear that news, Kev. My wife and I lost a dear friend to the same disease 2 years ago. Our best wishes to you and your friend at this difficult time.

Regards, Jim

Oh, that's terrible, Kev. At least he's got you to talk to - the best you can do is be there for him.

Oh dear!

Our prayers are with you. I can only guess how you feel - I lost a brother and two closest friends, all three in their 40's and 50's to cancer, and I am a cancer survivor myself. I remember a scare it gave to my wife when I was diagnosed.

I know that there is not much you can do, just keep your man as happy and comfortable as you can.

That is really sad news. Regular check ups are a good idea, but I have to say, in this case, it likely would not have made much difference. Pancreatic is one cancer that next to no one survives :(

It may be, depending on the patients decisions and outlook, that your friend fared better undiagnosed having lived the last years of life without going through having half his insides removed, chemo and radiation .. :(

Thanks for the comforting replies everyone. Yes, you're probably right Jake. It didn't impact his life until now and his experience of 2 lots of chemo (which he's discontinued) were awful as it totally incapacitated him.

A first for me yesterday. Thought it was a heron through the viewfinder when I took the shot but pretty sure it's an Eastern Reef Egret

Kev, that shot looks backlit to me - how did you get the eye so nicely lit?

Cheers, Damien

Nice! technically they are all Herons. Egrets are herons, they just happen to be white. ... except when they are not. ;)
