Thats terrible Kev.. seems we take are turns going through some kind of human condition. hope your on the mend.

Thanks Jeff. On anti inflammatories but mild ones as they can aggravate heart conditions. Could opt for cortisone injections but if my problem is athritic based, then only a temporary releief and if "frozen shoulder" should self relieve about 18 months in so que sera sera..........tablets for now and more use of the monopod :-)

That's not nice mate..........anything around the nails ain't nice............very sensitive area......hope it heals for you.

Its really not fun, and thanks. It's also really frustrating because I'm training to use the Dallas Marathon to qualify for Boston, so the fact that it hurts to even walk just kills me. At least that's in mid-December.

To stay on-topic, here's another happy little bee:

You could try Osteo HA... and Actif 4 in 1.. both from amazon. they've really helped my arthritis in my hip.

My wife has had two frozen shoulders.. they are no fun

Finally got a couple of half-decent shots of the guy. He's shy enough that he's running away from me in the first, even thought it's through the kitchen window. In the second, I'm on the deck a dozen feet above him and well back and he still bolted.

Another from the backyard menagerie, shot during a dreadfully dull conference call.

My refurb arrived two days ago and I was able to take it out for a quick test before checking for need of MFA. The clouds were heavy and I was surprised how well it did in the low light. I saw these rabbit through some weeds in a yard and was able to get within 50 yards for this capture. Below is a crop from the same image. I can clearly see whiskers and the pupil. I'm just blown away by the IQ!:-) No MFA needed at 400mm!

Wished I'd had this new lens a couple months ago when I got this shot of this coyote that I captured with my 70-300L at the same range as the rabbits above. To have had that much more reach (less cropping) and IQ would have made it a front cover image.

Yeah, this lens is on my MVL list, along with my 35/2 IS (which I need to shoot more). Like you, it put my 70-300L in the corner.

Unlike you, the rabbits around my neighborhood are only around for the faintest early rays of dawn, and bolt at any approach. The squirrels aren't much better. -?

Edit: And if you'd shot at a faster SS than 1/40, it would probably have been even sharper! The IS is very good, but that's pushing it.

Agreed. I was rolling the wheel to get ISO to 100 if possible. I'll set my longest exposure setting a bit faster. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Today was my second outing with it. I'm still in that new owner amazed stage.

I've had the lens since the day it was released (December, 2014), and I'm still in that stage. :-)

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

Total agreement on this, I adore this 100-400 II. BEST lens that Canon makes!

What other lens allows you to effectively go from birds to bugs, and get such fantastic results while pulling it off? These shots were taken within a few seconds of each other; I have a better lens for birding, and I have a better lens for macro... but neither of them are capable of this flexibility.

(Neither of these are cropped)
